Here some links that also show how to do it with Metamask: Make sure to enable "Contract data" in the settings of the Ledger's Ethereum app.via Smart Chain) on the Binance DEX (but maybe on Binance's centralized exchange? Haven't tried it yet). You have to connect your Ledger to the extension via the Ethereum app.You have to choose "Binance Smart Chain Network" in the browser extension. If you actually want to use the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20 with Ethereum-like addresses instead of BEP2 with "bnb" addresses), then the process is similar, except: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯įinally, if you want to connect your Ledger to the Binance DEX (the BEP2 exchange), then don't choose "Binance Chain Wallet" from the unlock menu of the website, but instead click " Use original way to unlock" below it. You might also need to switch to the Ledger wallet manually every time you switch to a different network. Once you have connected the extension to the Ledger you still need to switch the extension from the default wallet to the Ledger wallet (via the same menu where you can change settings and connect with a hardware device) because it won't switch automatically. If you click that then you can switch to "Binance Chain Network" (the one for the "bnb" addresses) and connect to the Ledger's Binance app (via its settings menu). If you have the Binance browser extension installed, then you can switch between three network types:Īt the top of the extension you can see which network type you're currently using.

The former has Ethereum-like address that start with "0x", the latter has addresses that start with "bnb". The Binance app on the ledger is not for the Binance Smart Chain, but for the Binance Chain (w/o the "Smart"). I installed the smart chain app on my ledger BEP20 token on the Ethereum network or ETH/ERC20 on the Binance Smart Chain network), then you just have to add the missing token as a custom token, as described in the linked sub I meantioned earlier. :)Īlternatively you can use Metamask, but it requires you to add the Binance Chain networks manually first.Īnd if you ever send coins on the wrong network (e.g. So if you flip to the Ethereum Network, you'll see the ETH and ERC20 tokens in your wallet, and if you flip to the BEP20/BEP2 Network you'll see those tokens.Īnd if you compare the ETH address with the BEP20 address, then you'll notice that they're the same.

If you want to send your BNB as a BEP2 token to your Ledger, then you first need to install the Bincance app on the Ledger and generate an address. The BEP20 address is (as already mentioned) compatile to Ethereum and uses the same wallet address as Ethereum. The BEP2 address is on a chain that is NOT compatible to Ethereum and has a different address format. Trust wallet makes it possible to send your BNB either to a BEP2 address or a BEP20 address. The smart chain for BEP20 tokens is an Ethereum compatible chain, which means that one and the same Ethereum address/wallet can receive ETH (or ERC20 tokens), as well as BEP20 tokens.

For the BEP2 tokens of the normal chain there is an app that you can install in the Ledger.
